What to know about human trafficking, October 6, 3:00pm

The Silver City Public Library will host two special public presentations by the New Mexico Office of the Attorney General. On Thursday, October 5, an expert will speak about youth internet safety, and on Friday, October 6, a member of the southern New Mexico Human Trafficking Task Force will speak about the issue of human trafficking.

The Las Cruces office of the New Mexico Attorney General will offer an informative presentation on Cyber Safety on Thursday, October 5, 4:00pm via Zoom, also viewable at the Silver City Public Library in the large meeting room. The presentation is geared towards parents, grandparents, and other caregivers of children and teens; but is informative for anyone. Attendees will learn how to help kids stay safe online and avoid exploitation. In particular, the risk of youth being solicited for nude photographs will be addressed. The New Mexico Office of the Attorney General will also give a presentation on Human Trafficking on Friday, October 6, 3:00pm at the Silver City Public Library. A member of the Human Trafficking Task Force for southern New Mexico will present facts about human trafficking, what community members should know, and what efforts are made to combat trafficking.
