All of these new resources are available at no cost to library card holders using computer web browsers or mobile apps. For patrons without computers or internet access, all services may be accessed by using the library’s computers and internet service. Some of the new services include content for adults, teens and children. Parents and caregivers are responsible for guiding minors to age-appropriate content.

Flipster

Visit the Flipster online magazine stand by clicking here, or download the Flipster app. The library’s subscription includes popular titles like The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, and National Geographic. The digital magazines are accessible in the library building without entering your library card, and available online anywhere when you log in using your library card. Ancestry is a website where you can look up your family history. Ancestry is available on the computers at the library, or on your device when you use the library wireless internet. El Portal from the New Mexico State Library

El Portal provides free access anytime to resources that aren’t free on the Internet.  El Portal is free to anyone in New Mexico. Need to look at the repair manual for your car?  Check out the Chilton manuals. Looking to start your own business?  Try El Portal’s Small Business Resource Center. Trying to read a news story, but can’t access it without a subscription? Try Newsbank.

El Portal also includes BrainFuse HelpNow for homework and study help for students of all ages and levels. BrainFuse JobNow provides career resources, and resume and interview help.

GrantStation

The Grant County Community Foundation purchased GrantStation, a grant research database for nonprofits to use to research grant opportunities, and made it accessible for free at the Silver City Public Library. To use GrantStation, come to the library and connect to our wireless internet on your device, or use one of our public computers. Go to grantstation.com while you’re at the library to use this service.
