Summer Reading Program 2023 Registration Begins Monday

The 2023 Summer Reading Program at the Silver City Public Library is coming! Children, teens, and adults can register for the program starting Monday, May 8. Stop by the library to sign up. Registered participants can win prizes by reading and attending events. Adults can win prizes and participate in activities too!

Look forward to exciting events and activities including a foam party at Penny Park to launch the program on Saturday, June 3, 1:00pm! We’ll also have the Magic Guy, Explora hands-on science, and Advocates for Snake Preservation with live snakes. Singer and songwriter Aspen Black will take us on a lyrical journey. Bike Works will offer a bike maintenance workshop, and there will be a demo from the Future Forge. The Silver City Police Department will show us their K-9 Unit.

We will be having crafts every Tuesday, for ages 12 and under, such as making our own musical instruments. There will be activities open to all ages including adults, like “Chalk the Block” sidewalk chalk, the Future Forge demonstration, and origami. We will also be continuing our year round events like Robots, Future Engineers, Minecraft and movies.

The Big Ditch Crickets will be at the end of the summer reading party on July 28th at 2pm. The Crickets will play music and teach some dances.

Participants track reading at their own pace, setting their own goals. Come to whatever events you can! We look forward to seeing you.
