After a long career in journalism including head of United Press International in Albuquerque and college public relations at New Mexico Tech, Ron Hamm took up non-fiction. He’s edited two books and authored four.

For a century, New Mexico women of diverse ethnicities, backgrounds, and beliefs have distinguished themselves in wide-ranging fields of interest and achievement. There have been some attempts to chronicle their lives, but this book is a more ambitious, examining New Mexico’s extraordinary women of the past 100 years, praising their role in forging New Mexico into the vibrant place it is today. Award-winning author Sharman Russell calls the book “an extraordinary labor of love and a resource for scholars in many disciplines (but) above all, a book for the lay person to browse and dip into.” The book is available at Sunstone Press, local bookstores, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.
