2020 General Election: Tuesday, November 3, 2020

Registering to Vote

As stated by the county clerk’s office: “You may register to vote any time. In order to be eligible to vote in an election, your voter registration must be received by the Grant County Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m., 28 days prior to any election.” The registration deadline is October 6. You can register to vote at the following places:

Voters can register or make changes to their registration after the October 6 deadline only at the County Clerk’s office, per the “same-day voter registration” provision described in these voting FAQs from the NM Secretary of State.

Absentee ballots

The Grant County Clerk’s office will be sending out courtesy absentee applications for the 2020 General Election beginning September 14, 2020. It is entirely YOUR CHOICE to use or not use this absentee application being sent to you. If you choose to vote absentee by mail, the application must be received in the clerk’s office no later than Tuesday, October 20, 2020. – From the County Clerk’s Elections web page.

Absentee ballot applications are also available every Saturday 9:00am-12:00pm at the Farmer’s Market at Pope Street and College Avenue, in the parking lot next to the former LifeQuest Building, or you can request an absentee ballot application at nmvote.org.
