Great New Technology For Kids And Teens

In the Children’s Area

Silver City Public Library has two new types of technology available for kids. We have the Playaway Launchpad tablets and a new AWE computer. Both are for in library use only.

The Launchpad tablets by Playaway are durable tablets with games on them that are meant to be shared. They come pre-loaded with games so you do not have to have internet or long loading times. They are designed with an easy to use interface, just point and click. The library has tablets from Playaway’s STEAM Academy and Reading Academy. They cover a range of activities and ages, for different skill levels and learning areas.

The library has also added a new AWE computer with pre-loaded games—over 85 educational titles. No need to log in, just sit and play award-winning content. The computer is broken down into subject areas so kids can find what they are interested in and get started, from STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) to Language Arts to reading. The new computer is for a slightly older audience, ages 8-12, while our other AWE computers are for ages 2-8, so this new addition will keep the fun going as the kids grow.
