January Events

Do you like Minecraft? Want to learn? Come play at Minecraft Club. Tuesday, January 2nd at 4pm.

We have a combined day. Come play with LEGO and/or circuits. Build whatever you can think of and play with dough that conducts electricity. Saturday, January 4 at 1pm.

Learn how to play chess or play against others with our monthly chess club. Tuesday, January 7 at 4pm.

Come build and program robots with us. We have OZO bots that follow a line, two coding robots that use an app or cards to follow your commands or Mindstorms that you build and program yourself. Thursday, January 9 at 4pm.

Calling all Future Engineers. Come play with LEGO. Tuesday, January 14 at 4pm.

We have a new club. Come play Roblox together. With thousands of different games, there is always something interesting to do. Thursday, January 16 at 4pm.

Babytime

Join us for stories, songs and rhymes, and movement for infants 0-24 months and their caregivers. Special thanks to Nancy Stephens of the Imagination Library of Grant County for leading Babytime!

Storytime

Wednesdays at 10:00am

Come for stories, songs, and more geared to ages 0-5 and their caregivers! Special thanks to our wonderful talented storytime volunteers!

Services

Computers with internet and office programs are available in the children’s area. Log in with a children’s/youth library card or ask for a guest pass from the Circulation Desk. The children’s room also has two AWE Early Literacy Station computers for children ages 2-8 and one AWE AfterSchool Edge computer for ages 8-12. These computers have built-in games, no internet necessary.

The library also has new Launchpad tablets by Playaway that can be used inside the library. These tablets are durable and come pre-loaded with games, so internet is not necessary and loading times are quick. The library has tablets from Playaway’s STEAM Academy and Reading Academy that cover a range of activities and ages, for different skill levels and learning areas.

Homework and study help for students is available at BrainFuse HelpNow, an online service provided by the New Mexico State Library. BrainFuse is part of the El Portal resource portal.

Group tours and special group storytimes are available with advance scheduling; please call 575-538-3672 and ask for the Children’s Librarian.
