The Silver City Public Library invites you to join us Thursday, February 22nd for a free concert at the Silco Theater at 3:00pm with folk duo Hungrytown! Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson, through their years of worldwide touring and tireless devotion to many classic genres of music, have crafted Hungrytown into a true artistic hybrid, able to hold Celtic and Americana, ballads and psychedelia, sunshine and darkness, joy and despair–not only within the same album, but within the same song.
Hall and Anderson met in New York City, where they had already been performing regularly–Hall as a jazz singer, and Anderson as a drummer for a variety of psychedelic pop bands. The tragic loss of a close friend led the duo to inherit a collection of 60’s folk music and a guitar that can still be heard on all of their albums. From their friend’s music collection, Hall and Anderson would draw inspiration from the grit and true-to-life experiences they heard in the ballads and in 2003 the couple quit their day jobs to become full time touring musicians. They have since delighted audiences the world over with their reto-folk sound, and have released three studio albums.
Thanks to the support of the Friends of the Library, this show is free to the public!
