Summer Reading Program

Come join us for a summer of fun. This years theme is an Ocean of Possibilities. There will be weekly prizes, grand prizes, performers, movies, and more!!

Start off with fun at Penny Park at 1 pm on May 31st, where there will be a foam party. The foam is hypoallergenic and safe. The children, 2-18, will have fun running around and playing in the foam. Swimsuits are recommended but not required!

There will be weekly events for Teens and Under ranging from a fun craft, to story time and baby time. Some of the crafts include Jellyfish lanterns where 12 and under children will get a paper lantern to decorate as a jellyfish. Or a Mermaid scrub which is a skin care sugar scrub made out of sugar, coconut oil and sprinkles. Tuesdays are from 12 and under and Thursdays are for teens.

There will be four movies on specific Mondays. These are Encanto, Sing 1 and 2, and Coco. These movies are for people of all ages. So come enjoy a movie with popcorn.

Silver City Public Library welcomes performers, who will entertain people of all ages. Indiana Bones is back for another summer of interactive story telling. Learn about myths and legends in an exciting way on June 10th at 10am. Next is Explora on July 1st at 1pm. Come have hands on science. Finally, there will be Asombro. Come create desert postcards and hear about New Mexico’s wildlife on July 8th, at 1 pm.

Come share how you are doing over the summer. Share a poem, a favorite passage, a prize, or anything you want about your reading and the summer. Open to all ages.

There will also be some of our favorite programs that are held all year long. Such as Future Engineers where kids can come and play with LEGOS. They can build new worlds and go on adventures with what they make. Game Day where people can come and play board games. We have a wide assortment of games and staff to play with. We encourage people to bring their own favorite game. And Minecraft. Where kids can come and play Minecraft with others.

Adult programming is available too!

There will be a party at Penny Park to wrap up the summer on July 22nd. Grand prizes will be awarded at the party so turn in your logs. You do not have to be present to win. Last day to turn in logs will be July 15th. And August 5th is the last day to pick up prizes. See the library for a list of weekly prizes and grand prizes.

Thanks to the Friends of the Library and Bruce and Mary Wilson for making this happen.
