Silver City Public Library is excited to announce five new online resources launching in December. These resources will be free to use–all you need is a library card. The five services are Hoopla, Rocket Languages, Comics Plus, Flipster, and Ancestry. All links and current information will be posted to our new Digital Services Page here.
Hoopla is a streaming service including movies, TV, e-books, music, audio books, and comics. Setting up is fast and the app is intuitive. Don’t miss out on all the content. Rocket Languages is a fun way to learn a new language. This fantastic site goes over 14 languages. So if you are looking for something new or reviewing old, come learn a language with us. Impress your friends and family or travel the world with a new language. And you can do it from anywhere! Just log in and get going. Come explore amazing new worlds with Comics Plus. This simple to use website contains thousands of digital comics, manga and graphic novels. Find your favorites, or get to know something indie and new. Meet your heroes and fight villains or become an antihero yourself with a free account with Comics Plus. Go to silvercityplnm.librarypass.com and sign in using your library card number and the password from your library account.
Flipster is an online magazine stand. The library’s subscription includes popular titles like The New Yorker and National Geographic. Have you always wondered where your family came from, but didn’t know who to ask or thought it was too late? Never fear! Ancestry is a website where you can look up your family lineage. Find things like birth certificates, pictures, ship manifests and so much more. Stop wondering and come on in to Silver City Public Library and find out. Flipster, Rocket Languages, and Ancestry will launch at the beginning of December. Comics Plus is available right now, and hoopla which will launch in mid-December! All of these new resources are available at no cost to library card holders using computer web browsers or mobile apps. For patrons without computers or internet access, all services may be accessed by using the library’s computers and internet service. Some of the new services include content for adults, teens and children. Parents and caregivers are responsible for guiding minors to age-appropriate content.
Hoopla, Flipster, Comics Plus and Rocket Languages will require users to create an online account with their library card number. You can sign up for a new library card online or in person, or stop by to replace your missing card. Feel free to contact us with any questions!
