In celebration of African American History Month, the Silver City Public Library will host “African American History for Beginners,” an event facilitated by Jeffrey Scott, on Tuesday, February 16, 4:30-5:45pm. This free presentation and discussion will provide new insights to help better understand current race relation issues found in news reports. “This introduction to the story of African American human beings will provide informed perspectives to help participants become more thoughtful American and global citizens,” said Jeffrey Scott. “No previous knowledge of U.S. or African American History is necessary. Just bring an open, curious mind.” Anyone is welcome to attend—young people and adults.
Jeffrey Scott has taught African American History to university and high school students across the United States. Since his teens, Jeffrey has participated in movements for social change. He has recently completed a novel about the African American Civil Rights Movement.
The Silver City Public Library is located at 515 W. College Avenue at the corner of College and Cooper Street in Silver City. For more information, contact the library at 575-538-3672 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
